Little Change, Large Effect
Every coffee lover knows the satisfaction of getting that fresh cup each morning from their favourite barista. But what if that cup was contributing to the rapid reduction of Earth’s natural resources, like oil – which doesn’t renew itself for millions of years?
More than 20 billion takeaway coffee cups are consumed each year among coffee drinking nations such as Canada, Australia and the U.S. Most takeaway cups aren’t recyclable or reusable, and end up as solid landfill waste.
New cups are made every day, stocked in cafés around the world, using oil and paper resources that cannot be renewed faster than we are consuming them. Imagine the impact of that cycle replaying itself daily.
Now imagine if you took a reusable cup, eliminating one cup a day from that cycle, eliminating the environmental impact of using a new paper cup on each café visit. If 1000 individuals took a reusable coffee cup, they could save 2.1 TONNES of landfill annually (based on 3 coffees per week). Reuse is a small individual change that can have an enormous impact when adopted on a large scale.
Micup is a reusable coffee cup born from the idea that our love of coffee doesn’t have to compromise our environment; that sustainable lifestyles are compatible with the pace of modern living.
Micup represents our passion in supporting a broader movement toward reuse where possible in everyday consumption, away from disposable goods that damage and deplete our environment.
